This Israel Antiquities volume, is the first
in a series on final reports on excavations
at Maresha during the 1980s and 1990s.
The excavations and surveys centered in
the lower city.
Ancient Maresha consisted of a high
mound-The upper city-And a lower city
enclosing the upper area. The impressive
remains of the lower city include man made
subterranean complexes. In this volume you
will find a setting of the site, geography and
geology of the area, a short history of
Maresha, and of course extensive reports of
the archeological findings and the amazing
